Pros

The Dual Pixel AF II is very capable. It can detect & track faces, eyes, people (and even vehicles / animals) in many scenarios. This gives you confidence that your face will stay in focus. Many entry-level cameras crop 4K (i.e. use only a part of the sensor), but R50 uses the full sensor area in 4K/30p mode, which is nice for wide shots / framing. You can see yourself while vlogging, flip it forward — very helpful in self-recording.

Cons

If your lens doesn’t have good optical stabilization, video (especially handheld) will suffer. For more dynamic shots, you'll need a gimbal or stabilized lens.
